does anyone know if atheletes will sign more than just a sports card. such as a ball, or a jersey? would they charge you for it, or will they sign those objects for free like the cards?

Hey Luc, I just sent Charlie Ward a Micro Helmet to sign yesterday. It cost me a little over $10 to send it and have it sent back. I will hopefully get it back in the next 3 to 4 weeks, so I will let you know if and when I get it back.

Hall of Famer's, if they charge, will charge more for larger items. I sent a card to have signed by Hugh McElhenny (49er, HOF), and he sent a price list. Most small objects were $15, larger items were $25-$35. So if its someone you REALLY want, send them a letter, and ask if there is a pricelist. If not, take your chances, but Chris is right, make sure the address will work. Also, on larger items, use some kind of delivery confirmation. Good luck!
Hey Luc,
I wanted to let you know that I got my Peyton Manning Mini Helmet back today, signed in blue and inscribed with 18. It turned out really good. I sent him a $20 donation for the Peyback Foundation and it took about 3 weeks.
Permalink Reply by luc kranz on September 22, 2011 at 11:16pm wow chris congrats on the helmet! do you think i should send a letter saying like "id like to send you a basketball" and wait for them to answer or just send an item with a letter?
Thats up to you Luc. I would suggest sending a card first and in your letter, ask them if you could send a ball. I would especially do that if you are sending to the stadium. Because what you gotta remember is when you send a larger item for someone to sign, they gotta bring it to the post office to be sent. If it's an older player it may be a problem, but if it's a younger player, they probably have someone do it for them.
If you are sending to someone that you have gotten before, then maybe just send it. But if your sending to them for the first time, send a card and ask them if you can send a ball. If it's the wrong address, you may be out a ball.
Also if they have a charity that you know of and you know they sign, throw $5 to $20 in with the ball.
By the way, I got my Micro Helmet from Charlie Ward back today. It's signed and looks great! 2/2 sending objects.
